The precise cause for the breast cancer is not known. But still there are certain risk factors, which actually increase the chance of occurrence of the breast cancer in some females. There are many risk factors such as family history, age, gene changes, and changes in the breast, reproductive history, intake of alcohol and diethylstilbestrol, obesity, radiations, race, density of the breast etc. When the age of the women crosses 60 there are increased chances of getting breast cancer. But now women, as they pass their menopause or even before, are much prone to breast cancer, so it is highly essential to go in for a mammogram. When any relative of the women has a history of cancer, then she is at the risk of getting cancer. For some females the cells of the breast are abnormal, thus increasing the risk of cancer. Another important cause of breast cancer is the change in the genes, which can be detected earlier to prevent the occurrence of the cancer. It has been found that those females who reach their puberty before the age of 12 are at a higher risk of breast cancer. Intake of alcohol also increases the risk of getting cancer.
