Bladder Cancer - Risk Factors

The exact cause for the bladder cancer is not known till date. But cancer is not contagious. There are certain risk factors for the occurrence of bladder cancer. They can be intake of tobacco products, occupation, race, sex, age, infections, family history, etc. Some people who had bladder cancer and got cured can also get it again. Older people are more prone to bladder cancers; especially men have more chances of getting bladder cancer than a woman. Some people who have a family history of bladder cancer are at a higher risk of getting it. Whites are more possibility of getting bladder cancer than Hispanics and African Americans.

Asians have very low chance of getting a bladder cancer. Prolonged infections such as parasitic infections in the bladder region can cause cancer. It is most commonly found in those people who reside tropical countries. People who use tobacco in any form are at the highest risk factor of any cancer. Some people take in arsenic and cyclophosphamide as a part of cancer treatment. These drugs increase the risks of getting a cancer.
